The General Plan Update program includes an update of the 2005 Housing Element. California planning law requires the County to update the Housing Element by July 2009.

The update of the Housing Element will occur in conjunction with the General Plan Update. Meeting schedules and opportunities for public input and related documents on the Housing Element will be made available on this website.

On September 10, 2008 San Joaquin County held a round-table discussion on housing trends and issues as a part of the Housing Element Update. The purpose of this workshop was to present a brief overview of the Housing Element update process and discuss information on the major challenges to affordable housing in the County.
